Since finishing his studies and career as a biologist in the University of Oulu, Jari has worked in non-profit organisations as an instructor and teacher. He became the Youth Centre manager in 2002. Metsäkartano Youth Centre is part of a national network of ten youth centres in Finland that is supervised and subsidised by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The purpose of the network is to promote international youth co-operation, non-formal education and environmental education. Metsäkartano also serves as a Nature Travel Resort for domestic and international tourists.
